This piece is called moonlight and roses.

The material, a rayon poly blend satin, was a joy to dye. The floats are mostly polyester, so they resisted the dye more. With the rayon warp a darker color, it gave the color a real depth.

This coloring combined with the fact that the satin moves beautifully gives the piece the effect of liquid mercury, or moonlight on water.

The scarf is a velvet burnout with a black chiffon background, lined with a deep red satin, bordered in black and trimmed in velvety chenille fringe.
