This cotton top is hand-printed with a Japanese cherry blossoms in a hexagonal pattern called "tortoiseshell". Echoing Japanese design, the pattern is randomly voided in a way that is both asymmetrical and balanced. The back has a batik of an encirled willow tree, again echoing kimono patterns.

The piece has princess lines ending in a slight peplm in the back. There is a dyed-to-match frog closure at the throat.
